What is FRP? Fibers, resins, products and processes
FRP means fiber-reinforced polymer (also called fiber-reinforced plastic). It combines load-carrying fibers with a polymer resin that binds, protects and transfers load between them. The resulting properties depend on both materials and how the fibers are arranged and processed.
Types of FRP: fibers, resins, processes and product forms
FRP can be classified four ways: reinforcement fiber, polymer matrix, manufacturing process and finished product form. A purchase description should use all four when they affect performance—for example, pultruded E-glass/vinyl-ester channel rather than simply 'fiberglass profile.'
