Composite products that look similar can use different reinforcement orientations, resin systems, fillers, veils and cure schedules. A useful comparison therefore records the construction behind each quoted property and separates typical catalog values from guaranteed acceptance values. If a supplier proposes an alternative construction, the deviation should be visible in the quotation and supported by a new technical review rather than accepted as an equivalent by name alone.
First-article approval should reproduce the intended production route. Record dimensions, mass, appearance, material batch, process settings that affect quality and the results of agreed tests. Keep the signed sample or inspection record under revision control so later shipments are compared with the approved baseline. For custom parts, clarify ownership and storage of molds, dies, gauges and inspection fixtures before paying tooling charges.
Delivered cost includes more than ex-works price. Secondary machining, inserts, assembly, protective film, crating, inland transport, inspection and rejected-part replacement can change the commercial ranking of a shortlist. Ask each supplier to quote the same supply boundary and Incoterm, then normalize the offer against usable delivered quantity rather than nominal kilograms or square metres.
