An equipment quotation should be checked against a written user-requirement specification. Product dimensions, material variants, speed, uptime assumptions, staffing, utilities and acceptance criteria need explicit values. Without that baseline, suppliers may quote different line boundaries and automation levels, making the lowest headline price impossible to compare with the required output.
Factory acceptance testing should exercise the integrated sequence with representative material where practical. Record speed, temperatures, forces, alarms, dimensions, scrap and changeover steps. Open items should have owners and deadlines before shipment. Site acceptance should then confirm utilities, guarding, training and sustained production under the buyer's conditions.
Lifecycle risk includes proprietary controls, unavailable spares and incomplete documentation. Request electrical drawings, program backups, parameter lists, maintenance schedules, wear-part lists and a support matrix. Clarify ownership of machine software and remote access, and identify components that can be sourced locally without invalidating the warranty.
